Boomsmas in Europe 9

The trip is about half way at Bamberg Germany and we are settling in to shipboard routine. We've left the Main River and embarked upon the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal which connects us to the Danube.

Today was hot so wearing hats we trooped obediently onto the buses and drove to the Old Town. I've had enough of Old Towns because they all have COBBLESTONES and I HATE cobblestones.

Just look at that sea of cobblestones - which I walked across six times! And look at the lucky people crossing it on segues. David and I were the rebels who dropped out: David is inclined to say "ABC" which stands for "another bloody cathedral" and if they have cobblestones around them I agree.

We returned to the group for their final stop, The Rose Garden.

Now that's more like it! Over in the corner a nice little cafe with iced Shokolade and a chance to sit down. Our free time was running out as we made a foray into the new town - a proper street with shops selling real stuff not just tourist stuff - to look for knitting wool. Successfully, but we had to hurry to catch the returning bus. David navigated us brilliantly by back alleys and on the way I saw:

a street library. There are 30,000 university students here so I guess the library gets quite a bit of use.
